Bad news for FC Bayern’s Harry Kane. Due to his ankle injury, he could return from the England national team without playing a single minute. His injury does not appear to be a quick fix.

It was already clear that FC Bayern’s Harry Kane would not be able to play for England in this Saturday’s test against Brazil. At the pre-match press conference, England coach Gareth Southgate once again ruled out playing his captain. But even worse: Southgate declared that Kane’s participation in the next test against Belgium next Tuesday was „extremely doubtful“.

Kane was substituted in Bayern’s last Bundesliga game last Saturday in Darmstadt with a capsule injury in his ankle. Nevertheless, he travelled to the England national team – probably also to receive treatment from the medical staff he trusts.

Will Bayern have to worry about Kane for the BVB game?

Southgate said at the press conference about his squad against the Brazilians: „No Harry Kane, no Jordan Henderson, no Cole Palmer.“ Henderson from Ajax Amsterdam and Palmer from Chelsea FC are also injured, but have „a better chance than Harry“ for the Belgium game, according to Southgate.

The fact that Kane’s injury appears to be so long-lasting is likely to raise concerns at FC Bayern that the top striker could also miss next Saturday’s clash with Borussia Dortmund.

Kane’s absence would be a serious setback for Munich. The 30-year-old is the German record champions‘ top scorer. In 35 competitive matches for Bayern, the superstar has scored 37 goals and assisted a further 12. In the Bundesliga, Kane has 31 goals to his name and is chasing Robert Lewandowksi’s record of 41 goals in a season.
