FC Bayern has set its sights on Wael Mohya of Borussia Mönchengladbach. The 17-year-old attacking midfielder is considered one of the most exciting talents in the Bundesliga and is on the radar of numerous top European clubs. Now, the German record champions apparently face additional competition from the Premier League in their pursuit of the youngster.
As reported by Transferfeed, Liverpool FC is taking a close interest in Mohya. Brighton & Hove Albion is also said to be closely monitoring the attacking midfielder’s development. This could further expand the already star-studded list of interested clubs.
There have already been recent reports of Munich’s interest in the German-Moroccan player. In addition to Bayern, Borussia Dortmund, Bayer Leverkusen, and RB Leipzig are also said to be keeping an eye on the Gladbach player. Internationally, Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, and AC Milan, among others, are being touted as potential suitors.
Liverpool Joins the Transfer Race for Mohya
Interest from England, in particular, could spur further action. Liverpool and Brighton are apparently ready to begin exploring a potential signing of the 17-year-old at an early stage.
Mohya still has a contract with Borussia Mönchengladbach through the summer of 2028. According to reports, the Foals would like to secure their young talent for the long term and are therefore working on a contract extension.
However, a departure in the summer of 2027 cannot be ruled out. According to Transferfeed, an offer of around 35 million euros could be enough to make a potential transfer a reality.
This would mean that, despite his young age, Mohya would already command a substantial transfer fee. His current market value is estimated by Transfermarkt at 17 million euros.
For interested clubs, therefore, not only the youngster’s athletic development but also the financial feasibility of a transfer is likely to be a decisive factor.
Bayern must offer Mohya a promising future on the field
In the race to sign the 17-year-old, however, another factor could tip the scales: the prospect of regular playing time.
Mohya is said to place great importance on securing clear athletic prospects at his next club as he plans his future.
For FC Bayern, this would be a key requirement. The Munich club is increasingly relying on young players with great potential for development. At the same time, competition for playing time in attacking midfield is traditionally fierce.
The fact that numerous top European clubs are now showing interest in Mohya is likely to further complicate negotiations for all parties involved.
Borussia Mönchengladbach is initially in a comfortable position thanks to his contract, which runs through 2028. However, should the youngster decline an extension, a sale this coming summer could become a possibility.
For Bayern, Mohya thus remains an interesting prospect for the future. Whether the Munich club will actually get serious in the increasingly competitive transfer race remains to be seen.
