FC Bayern drew 2-2 with Borussia Dortmund in the classic match on Matchday 8 of the Bundesliga. Here are the FC Bayern stars in the FCBinside individual player ratings.
Jonas Urbig: Made a great save to stop a Bellingham shot. Urbig was badly run over once by Dortmund’s Chukwuemeka. He had no chance on either goal. Grade: 2.
Konrad Laimer: Scored the 1–0 goal for Bayern after a truly energetic performance: His first attempt was stopped by Kobel in the Dortmund goal, but the second one found the net. Laimer had a huge chance early in the second half, but Kobel was able to parry the well-placed shot. Laimer worked hard, applied pressure up front, and was always ready to receive the ball. Good game! Grade: 2.
Dayot Upamecano: Made a terrible misplaced pass in his own penalty area, which led to a BVB goal—but the goal was disallowed due to an offside call. Upamecano got lucky there. After that, however, he defended attentively. Later, though, he was in exactly the right place on the attack: After a header cross from Kane, the Frenchman tapped the ball in from close range. Grade: 2.
Minjae Kim: Was too far away from goal-scorer Guirassy when Dortmund equalized to make it 1–1. Otherwise, though, he was strong in one-on-one situations and composed when on the ball. Grade: 3.
Alphonso Davies: Started as a left back but moved up to the left attacking position after Gnabry’s injury. Davies ran and worked hard but still didn’t create much of a scoring threat. Grade: 3.

Joshua Kimmich: Returned after a death in the family. Before the 2-1 goal, he played a fine chip pass to Kane, who then set up Upamecano with a header. On the equalizer, Kimmich was unable to block Silva’s shot. Grade: 3.
Aleksandar Pavlovic: Had good passing stats but won only 17 percent of his duels. That’s not enough in a top-tier match. Grade: 4.
Michael Olise: Had Bayern’s first chance but hit the post. Later, he tried a shot on the turn, but the ball went just wide. Otherwise, Olise was largely taken out of the game by the BVB defense. The Frenchman posed little threat. Grade: 4.

Ismael Saibari: Wasted a huge chance when he ran alone toward BVB goalkeeper Kobel but then shot straight at him. Saibari was injured during the play and had to be substituted. Grade: 4.
Serge Gnabry: Was substituted due to injury just shy of the half-hour mark. Up until then, he tried hard but was unable to create any dangerous chances. Grade: 3.
Harry Kane: Was honored before the game for winning the Ballon d’Or. Had a huge chance to make it 2-0 on a handball penalty, but hit only the crossbar. The Englishman set up Upamecano’s 2–1 goal with a header. Otherwise, Kane barely made an impact in this classic match. The world’s best player failed to shine this time. Grade: 4.
Substitutes:
Nathaniel Brown (29’ for Saibari): Took over the playmaker role from Saibari, who was injured early on. Brown, however, was unable to make an impact in the attacking midfield; the game passed him by. Rating: 4.
Josip Stanisic (31’ for Gnabry): Took over the left side of defense; Davies moved up a position to replace Gnabry in the attack. Stanisic did a decent job. Solid performance. Grade: 3.
Lennart Karl (85′ for Olise): Came on too late to be evaluated.
