FC Bayern can breathe a sigh of relief as the season enters its final stretch before the winter break. After numerous injury concerns, there is finally some positive news again from Säbener Straße. On Thursday afternoon, Jamal Musiala took part in team training for the first time in more than five and a half weeks. This marks an important step toward the 23-year-old’s return.
As reported by BILD, Musiala stepped onto the training field in good spirits on Thursday afternoon. The offensive player even pulled the music box behind him during the group warm-up. This is a clear sign that the national team player has reconnected with the team after his long forced break.
Musiala trains with his teammates again for the first time
The attacking player suffered a torn muscle fiber in his left thigh in late September while warming up before the international match against the Netherlands.
Since then, Musiala has been working intensively toward his return. As early as the beginning of October, he was already completing individual training sessions on the practice field. In recent days, the intensity of his training has been gradually increased.
Now came the next important step: his return to team training.
It’s worth noting that Musiala was apparently able to train with his teammates again a little earlier than originally expected.
Sports Director Max Eberl had stated just before the Champions League match against Atlético Madrid that the club’s management was aiming for a return to team training during the upcoming international break. “The plan for Jamal during the international break is for him to be fit enough to train so that he can rejoin the team afterward,” Eberl explained on Wednesday.
By participating in team training, Musiala has now taken at least a first important step in that direction.
Bayern doesn’t want to take any risks with Musiala’s comeback

Despite this encouraging development, FC Bayern is likely to remain cautious regarding its star forward. Musiala has already had to cope with several health setbacks in recent months. Before his thigh injury, the national team player had collapsed during two consecutive preseason matches.
The 23-year-old subsequently linked the incidents himself to a neurological disorder that can occasionally cause brief lapses in consciousness. After a recovery period and an adjustment to his medication, Musiala was initially able to play again without any problems.
This makes it all the more important for Munich that the offensive player is now carefully reintroduced to regular match play.
Given the team’s current personnel shortage, a swift return by the national team player would be of enormous importance. In addition to Musiala, Bayern is currently missing other key offensive players. Serge Gnabry and Ismael Saibari are out for the long term, and Luis Díaz is still working on his comeback.
Interim coach Aaron Danks, who is standing in for Vincent Kompany while he is ill, could thus gain an additional high-caliber option for the offense in the long run.
It is not yet known whether Musiala will be back in the squad for the match against Mainz. His first participation in team training does not yet mean he has been given full clearance to play.
Nevertheless, this development is an important sign: After more than five and a half weeks on the sidelines due to injury, the Bayern star’s return is finally drawing nearer.
