FC Bayern is apparently looking to rejuvenate its defense for the long term. Although the Munich club has two internationally experienced center backs in Jonathan Tah and Dayot Upamecano, club officials are already on the lookout for potential reinforcements for the coming years. An interesting name has now emerged: Tarik Muharemovic of Leeds United.
As reported by the British website TEAMtalk, Bayern is closely monitoring the 23-year-old’s progress. The Bosnian national team player is said to be on the list of potential new signings and could play a role in the planned overhaul of Munich’s defense down the road.
However, a transfer in the near future does not appear likely. Leeds United apparently has no interest whatsoever in letting their center back go.
Bayern is keeping an eye on Muharemovic – Leeds is demanding a record fee
According to TEAMtalk, FC Bayern is among the clubs considering a potential signing of Muharemovic. The report states that officials in Munich believe the young center back has the potential to take on a leadership role.
However, the record champions are reportedly viewing the defender more as a candidate for a future transfer window. No concrete move is currently planned.
On top of that, Leeds United apparently wants to put a firm stop to any potential transfer.

According to information from the British website, the English club does not want to sell the 23-year-old either this winter or next summer. As a result, there is reportedly no official asking price at this time.
However, there is speculation that an offer of more than 60 million pounds would be necessary for Leeds to even consider a potential sale. This amounts to approximately 70 million euros. This would make Muharemovic the most expensive sale in the club’s history.
Coach Daniel Farke is also said to have no interest whatsoever in letting his defender go. The player himself is reportedly also very happy at Leeds United.
Bayern must plan for the long term in defense
It comes as no surprise that the Munich club is already looking at younger center-backs.
With Jonathan Tah and Dayot Upamecano, Vincent Kompany does have two established defenders at the top international level. However, both will reach or exceed the age of 30 in the coming years.
Tah will celebrate his 31st birthday in February 2027, while Upamecano will turn 28 at the end of October.
Especially with an eye toward the coming seasons, a gradual rejuvenation of the central defense could therefore become a key priority.
Muharemovic would fit well into this plan in terms of age. The 23-year-old could strengthen the defense in the long term and, at the same time, play an important role for several years to come.
It remains to be seen whether FC Bayern will actually make a concrete move for Muharemovic.
As things stand, the club is currently just keeping an eye on him. Leeds United’s stance, in particular, is likely to make a potential transfer considerably more difficult.
One thing is clear: With Muharemovic, the Munich club apparently has another young center back on their radar. Whether this actually leads to a transfer will likely depend largely on the player’s future development and the long-term roster plans at Säbener Straße.
