FC Bayern may be able to breathe a sigh of relief in the transfer saga surrounding Michael Olise. Real Madrid is reportedly reconsidering its plans for next summer and has set its sights on another superstar. Instead of the French winger, Erling Haaland of Manchester City could become the new target for Los Blancos.
For months, persistent rumors have swirled about Real Madrid’s interest in Olise. The 24-year-old has developed into one of Europe’s best attacking players at FC Bayern and is said to have been high on the Spanish club’s wish list as early as last summer.
However, a transfer did not materialize. The Munich club made it clear that they did not want to let their star player go. Now, the situation could improve even further for the record champions.
Real Madrid is apparently considering a Haaland transfer
According to the Spanish newspaper El Nacional, Real Madrid’s transfer priorities are said to have changed fundamentally in the meantime. The report states that Real Madrid officials are actively exploring the possibility of signing Erling Haaland. The Norwegian striker from Manchester City could become a target in the summer of 2027.
This comes against the backdrop of the still-unresolved allegations against Manchester City regarding possible violations of the Premier League’s financial regulations.
Should the top English club indeed be punished with a massive point deduction or even forced relegation, this could have implications for the future of several star players.
According to El Nacional, Real Madrid is therefore considering making a move for Haaland, provided the Norwegian is looking to leave Manchester.
Olise’s contract extension with FC Bayern is becoming increasingly likely

If Real were to focus its efforts on Haaland, Michael Olise could fall down the priority list for the Madrid club. According to El Nacional, the Bayern star would then no longer be the main target for the upcoming transfer window.
That would certainly align with the latest reports from Spain. As Sky reports, Real Madrid now expects Olise to extend his contract with Bayern Munich.
Currently, the French national team player is under contract with the German record champions through 2029.
The Munich club would like to extend their attacking star’s contract early, thereby sending a clear signal to international competitors.
According to information from Sport BILD, the club is aiming for a new 5-year contract running through 2032. However, Olise’s representatives are reportedly pushing for an exit clause during negotiations. According to the report, this could amount to more than 200 million euros.
No such agreement has been confirmed yet.
Eberl emphasizes: No talks with Olise yet
It’s no secret that FC Bayern wants to keep its star player for the long term.
Sporting director Max Eberl spoke to DAZN on Saturday about a possible contract extension for the French player. “That’s what we want. But as I said, there’s still a third party involved,” explained the 53-year-old.
At the same time, Eberl made it clear that negotiations have not yet begun. So far, he said, “there have been no talks at all.”
Nevertheless, the Bayern boss is thrilled with the offensive player’s development. He called it “almost uncanny” that Olise still has further potential despite his already outstanding performances.
For FC Bayern, it would undoubtedly be a major success to secure the Frenchman’s long-term commitment to the club.
It remains to be seen whether Real Madrid will actually change its transfer plans in favor of Haaland. The latest speculation, however, is likely to suit the Munich officials just fine.
