Although FC Bayern won 4-1 in the cup match in Osnabrück, they weren’t entirely satisfied with every aspect of their performance. At the start of the season, a lot of things are falling into place, but not everything. Harry Kane also addressed this after the victory in the first round of the DFB Cup.
The Englishman scored two goals and was named Player of the Match. So for him, it was another successful day at work. After failing to score on two previous occasions—neither in the Super Cup nor in the league opener—these goals were all the more important for him.
Osnabrück put up a good fight and even took an early 1-0 lead with an absolutely stunning goal, which naturally created a great atmosphere at the Bremer Brücke.

Kane emphasized this atmosphere once again after the game. “The atmosphere was absolutely fantastic. I really liked that—German fans are often very, very passionate anyway,” the Englishman gushed into the microphone on Sky.
Kane could hardly contain his excitement over Robin Meißner’s dream volley right at the start: “What an insane goal! What a way to start this game. Sometimes you just have to give the opponent credit. That will be a fantastic memory for him—it was simply a great goal.”
After three competitive matches, Bayern now has eleven goals to its credit and has won every game. That’s a positive mid-season assessment, which Kane also highlighted. However, there are still a few areas for improvement in the record champions’ play.
“We might have been able to seal the game a little earlier. We had plenty of chances, but didn’t score until later. That was fine, though—in the end, we advanced to the next round and were dominant,” said Kane. Indeed, there were opportunities to seal the game that went unused. Some counterattacks could have been finished off better.
Nevertheless, Bayern always remained calm and patient with the ball. “I think patience was simply key. It wasn’t easy to hold our ground here after the early goal. But we knew we’d get our chances—we showed a good response,” Kane summed up.
