Harry Kane and records—this combination is becoming increasingly extraordinary at FC Bayern. In the Bundesliga home game against Union Berlin, the Englishman set another historic milestone. With his goal to make it 2-0 in the 39th minute, the 33-year-old surpassed the 100-goal mark in the Bundesliga.
What makes this so special: Kane needed just 98 appearances in Germany’s top flight to do so. No other player in Bundesliga history has reached the magical 100-goal mark anywhere near as quickly.
The previous record was held by Dieter Müller. The former Cologne player needed 129 Bundesliga matches to score his first 100 goals. Kane thus beat that mark by an incredible 31 games.
Even Bayern legend Gerd Müller can’t keep up with Kane’s pace. The “Nation’s Bomber” once reached the mark after 102 Bundesliga appearances. Kane was four games faster.
Yet the start of the new Bundesliga season had initially been unusually quiet by Kane’s standards. The striker failed to score against VfB Stuttgart and Schalke 04.
In the 2-1 victory over SV Elversberg, the moment finally arrived again. Kane scored the decisive goal, ending his brief scoring drought. At the same time, he brought his Bundesliga tally to 99 goals.
Just a few days later, he scored again against Union—marking his historic 100th goal.
The speed with which Kane reached this milestone once again underscores his extraordinary scoring rate since his move from Tottenham Hotspur to FC Bayern in the summer of 2023. In each of his first three Bundesliga seasons, the Englishman claimed the top scorer title.
Only Ronaldo has been even faster in a top league
Even when compared to other top European leagues, Kane’s record is extraordinary. The Bayern star needed just 98 games to score his first 100 Bundesliga goals.
Cristiano Ronaldo achieved this feat even faster. The Portuguese star reached his first 100 goals for Real Madrid in Spain’s La Liga after 92 appearances.
Kane thus joins an extremely exclusive circle on the international stage as well. In the Bundesliga, however, he has left the competition far behind.
And there’s no end in sight to his record-breaking streak. Just a few days earlier, Kane had scored his 150th competitive goal for FC Bayern in the victory at Elversberg.
Now he’s already hitting the next milestone. 100 Bundesliga goals in 98 games—not even the records set by Dieter Müller and Gerd Müller were safe from Kane.
