FC Bayern Munich has already laid a solid groundwork in the transfer market this summer. The club is essentially done with signings, but there are still expected to be some departures. However, these are proving to be relatively difficult at the moment.
That’s because negotiations have stalled regarding the potential departures of players like Joao Palhinha, Sacha Boey, and Bryan Zaragoza. There have been a few inquiries here and there, but nothing has become truly concrete for any of these players recently.
This is not an easy situation for Bayern’s management, as one of the goals for this summer was to generate transfer revenue.
Eberl comments on the transfer standstill
Now Max Eberl, FC Bayern’s sporting director, has commented on the current difficult situation regarding player sales. He is currently with the team on the Audi Summer Tour in Asia.
“I spoke quite clearly about these players three days ago. We’d like to let them go—they’re having a hard time with us. Nevertheless, they naturally have the right to train with us and give it their all. But we have other ideas for our overall planning,” explained the sporting director when asked about the players slated for sale at the record-holding champions.
At the same time, he also expressed a very specific hope regarding the possible departures.
“There’s always a lot of movement—generally speaking, on the transfer market. As August progresses, teams will take a closer look at their rosters once again before they kick off their European campaigns, perhaps because they have injuries. We’ll certainly be waiting for that. But there’s definitely movement,” Eberl continued.
This means that the hope also lies in the fact that clubs may develop new needs due to market dynamics or changes within their own squads, and that Bayern players who are available for a transfer could then come into focus.
