FC Bayern are continuing to work hard on their squad planning for the coming season. While negotiations for Nathaniel Brown are ongoing, the Munich club are apparently already looking at another full-back. According to a report by Fabrizio Romano, Feyenoord Rotterdam’s Givairo Read is still being closely monitored
FC Bayern’s transfer activities are currently focusing primarily on the defense. The Munich club have already reached a verbal agreement with Nathaniel Brown, although negotiations with Eintracht Frankfurt are still pending
The Hessians are said to be demanding a total package of around 60 million euros for the 22-year-old. Bayern, on the other hand, would like to pay significantly less and are currently said to be in the region of 50 million euros. Although the difference appears to be bridgeable in principle, a successful conclusion to the negotiations is by no means guaranteed
Accordingly, those responsible at Säbener Straße are apparently also keeping an eye on alternative options
Romano: Bayern continue to monitor Read
As transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports, FC Bayern are continuing to monitor the development of Givairo Read very closely, with the Dutch international from Feyenoord Rotterdam still on Munich’s list
In contrast to Brown, Read is at home on the right side of defence. The 19-year-old is regarded as a modern full-back with excellent technical skills and great strength in building up play. His qualities on the ball in particular make him an interesting profile for many top European clubs
The fact that Bayern are watching both Brown and Read is not a contradiction in terms: the two players have different profiles and could take on different roles within the squad
Technically strong and flexible defenders play a particularly important role under Vincent Kompany, and Read’s style of play would basically fit in well with the Bayern coach’s requirements profile
Transfer depends on several factors

At the moment, however, a concrete move for Read only seems realistic under certain conditions. Should the transfer of Brown be successfully completed, the plans for the full-back positions could be largely finalized for the time being
The situation could be different if the negotiations with Frankfurt fail or if there is still movement on the departure side. Possible sales in defence in particular could create new financial and sporting leeway
If, for example, Josip Stanisic were to take on a new role as a central defender or Min-jae Kim or Hiroki Ito were to leave, additional demand could arise. In this case, a transfer of Read would be much more realistic
According to current information, Feyenoord’s asking price is around 30 to 35 million euros, which would make the Dutchman significantly cheaper than Brown
However, FC Bayern are not alone in the race. According to Romano, Manchester City are also still interested in the talented right-back. However, the English club are currently focusing on other issues. The Sky Blues are currently working on signing their new coach Enzo Maresca, which is why Read is not currently a priority
The Dutchman therefore remains an exciting option for FC Bayern, but whether the interest actually turns into concrete negotiations will largely depend on how the situation surrounding Nathaniel Brown and Munich’s defensive squad planning develops in the coming weeks.
