According to the latest reports, Joshua Kimmich is toying with the idea of leaving FC Bayern in the summer. The 29-year-old is open to a new sporting challenge abroad. However, it has now been revealed that FCB is the first port of call for the midfielder.

For a long time, Joshua Kimmich was considered absolutely unsellable at FC Bayern. According to Sky, the mindset in Munich has now changed. Those responsible at Säbener Straße are not ruling out a sale in the summer. Kimmich himself can also imagine a move abroad after nine years with the German record champions.

As of today, there are (still) no concrete leads. As the Abendzeitung München reports, Munich remain Kimmich’s „first port of call“. Even if the 29-year-old is not 100 per cent satisfied with his situation at FCB, he is not ruling out another extension.

Initial talks with Eberl have taken place

Sporting director Max Eberl recently revealed that he and Kimmich had held initial talks. According to AZ, however, this was merely an initial exchange between the club and player. Concrete negotiations regarding a contract extension have not yet taken place.

As with many players, the coaching issue will also play a major role for Kimmich. The focus will be on the question of how the new Bayern coach plans to use Kimmich. He currently has to help out at right-back in the back four. It is an open secret that the right-back position is not one of Kimmich’s favourite roles. However, he is currently putting himself at the service of the team – just like the DFB squad.

What are Bayern’s plans for Kimmich?

Kimmich sees himself as a midfielder, a driving force in the centre. The problem: Bayern bosses seem to have other plans and ideas. The search for a new six-man continues to be a concrete topic at the Isar. In addition, Aleksander Pavlovic, a home-grown player, has made his breakthrough with the professionals this season and has established himself under Thomas Tuchel. The 19-year-old is currently an integral part of Munich’s starting eleven. In Leon Goretzka and Konrad Laimer, FCB have two other midfielders who are making claims for playing time.

One thing is clear: if Kimmich no longer has any prospects in Munich, the DFB international will have no problem finding a new club. With Manchester City, Liverpool FC and FC Barcelona, there are three absolute top addresses in European football who are all interested in the Bayern professional.
