The search for a successor to Thomas Tuchel is currently dominating the headlines at FC Bayern. But Bayern bosses also have a lot of work to do in the summer when it comes to squad planning.

The appointment of a new coach is currently the top priority for the Munich management. According to consistent media reports, Xabi Alonso is the German record champions‘ absolute favourite.

Parallel to the search for a coach, the squad planning for the coming season must also be pushed forward. New sporting director Max Eberl already made it clear at his inaugural press conference that the integration of promising talent will be an important building block in the future. „We need stars, but also young players who can develop,“ explained the 50-year-old.

Eberl builds on Bayern’s super talents

In an interview with Sky, Eberl explained how he envisages the future axis of the Bayern team. He once again emphasised the importance of young super talents: „We have very talented players in Jamal Musiala, Aleksandar Pavlovic and Tel.“

The recently announced extension of Mathys Tel’s contract until 2029 is seen as the first milestone in Eberl’s plan to form a new axis in the Bayern team. In particular, an extension with Jamal Musiala is now likely to be high on the agenda of those responsible at Bayern. The international’s contract expires in the summer of 2026.

According to Münchner tz, Josip Stanisic will also be one of the future faces of FC Bayern alongside Aleksander Pavlovic. The Croatian is currently on loan to league leaders Bayer Leverkusen and will return to Säbener Straße in the summer.

Experienced players as „corset bars“

It is important that the young players are supported by some experienced professionals. Eberl mentioned Harry Kane, Leon Goretzka and Joshua Kimmich by name, whom he described as „corset bars“.

In defence, Eberl also highlighted the importance of new winter signing Eric Dier, who is „increasingly taking on this role“ of stabiliser in defence.

Overall, there are „a lot of good players“, said Eberl, who wants to „hold talks with the lads in the coming weeks and months and then make the right decisions for the summer“.
