Things could still heat up for FC Bayern on the transfer market this winter. Due to the tight roster situation, the Munich club is apparently looking into possible reinforcements for its offense. A player who has been linked with the record champions in the past might now be available at a surprisingly low price: Johan Bakayoko of RB Leipzig.
The Belgian national team player appears to be on the verge of leaving the Saxon club. As Sky reports, the 23-year-old’s situation in Leipzig has not improved significantly. It had already become known in October that, if his playing time remained limited, Bakayoko would be among the potential candidates for a winter departure.
This scenario now appears to be taking shape. According to the report, RB Leipzig is willing to let the winger go for a transfer fee of 11 to 12 million euros. This could make Bakayoko a comparatively affordable transfer option for interested clubs.
Leipzig Is Open to Bakayoko’s Departure
Although the Saxon club is generally open to a sale, a loan deal this coming winter is considered the more likely scenario.
According to Sky, this is primarily due to the current market situation. A loan deal could allow Bakayoko to regain regular playing time at another club.
Financially, however, the Belgian is not exactly a bargain. His base salary is reportedly in the low single-digit millions. Performance-based bonuses could significantly increase his income.
Last season, Bakayoko already missed out on a particularly lucrative salary bonus due to his limited playing time.
Now, the attacking midfielder is apparently on the market.
Will Bakayoko once again be a topic of discussion at FC Bayern?

The Belgian is no stranger to the German record champions. As early as the summer of 2024, the Munich club was already showing interest in the then-PSV Eindhoven player.
At the time, Bakayoko was considered a promising candidate for the attacking wing. However, a transfer to Munich never materialized.
Now, the winger could once again be of interest. According to information from Sky, Bayern is looking specifically at potential reinforcements for the offense ahead of the winter transfer window.
The numerous injuries have recently shown how quickly options in the attack can become limited. With Luis Díaz, Serge Gnabry, Jamal Musiala, and Ismael Saibari currently sidelined, the team is missing several key offensive players.
With his speed and experience on the right wing, Bakayoko could, in principle, fit the profile they’re looking for. However, there are currently no concrete indications that Bayern have reignited their previous interest.
In addition, when considering potential winter transfers, the Munich club must carefully weigh whether a short-term addition would also make sense from a sporting perspective.
A loan could be an interesting alternative to a permanent transfer, provided the financial terms are right.
