FC Bayern celebrated a 2-1 victory over FSV Mainz 05 and heads into the international break as the league leader. Accordingly, the FCB is satisfied with the result. However, they are not entirely satisfied with the performance.
In the end, the victory falls into the “hard-fought win” category. Although Bayern had a clear advantage in chances and dominated the game for long stretches, they were briefly shaken by a late goal in the final minute.
In the end, though, the victory was never truly in danger. Nevertheless, Bayern always strive to get the absolute most out of themselves.
Kimmich Not Entirely Satisfied Despite the Win
That’s why Joshua Kimmich wasn’t completely satisfied after the game. “Yes, it was definitely a hard-fought victory. From the outside, it wasn’t a dazzling performance, but it was confident. I don’t think we gave them many chances, except for that offside goal, which sparked some debate. It was important for us not to concede the 1-1 before halftime,” explained the national team player.
Kimmich played well, earned a good grade in the individual player ratings on FCBinside, and, as in recent matches following the bereavement in his own family, appeared to be in good form.
The midfielder noted an improvement in Bayern’s performance in the second half. “We played better in the second half. Of course, it was also important to make it 2–0, essentially sealing the game. “Even though they came back a bit at the end, I don’t think the victory was ever in danger,” said Kimmich.
Bayern now heads into the international break as the league leader and is the only team in Europe that remains completely undefeated. That’s why the mood is currently positive at the record-holding champions. Especially since Bayern is currently able to overcome various setbacks—many players are injured, and head coach Vincent Kompany is also out.
