FC Bayern will be without Leroy Sané for the match at SC Freiburg. Will coach Thomas Tuchel bring Mathys Tel into the starting eleven instead?

Leroy Sané is out for FC Bayern’s game in Freiburg today. This is reported by Sport BILD. Sané is currently struggling with problems in his patella tendon, and Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel had already indicated at the press conference on Thursday that it might not be enough for the German international.

According to Sport BILD, however, there is still hope that Sané could make it back into the squad for next Tuesday’s Champions League round of 16 second leg against Lazio Roma.

According to the report, Mathys Tel will replace Sané in the starting line-up for tonight’s game at SC Freiburg.

Tuchel had said at the press conference about Sané: „Leroy always wants to play. He is someone who can tolerate pain incredibly well. He’s felt something in recent weeks. Maybe he’s been biting his teeth a bit too much. I sense that he’s not completely free.“

Tuchel on Tel: „Don’t see the conflict“

The coach continued: „He has a lot of aches and pains and is paying a bit of a toll for the overload. We have to find the best solution for tomorrow. He’s doing an individual test now. If he can, we’ll take him into the final training session. We’ll see if he can make the squad tomorrow and perhaps help us from the bench. We have to look from day to day. He’s not at all woebegone.“

The coach, who will leave the club at the end of the season, also spoke about the regular calls for Tel to be included in the starting eleven. New sporting director Max Eberl had also announced at his presentation that he wanted to ensure that FC Bayern promoted talents like Tel in the future.

Tuchel commented: „I think I was and remain responsible for the line-up. I’ve never experienced it any other way, not even here. I assume that it will stay that way. I don’t see the conflict with Tel. In my opinion, he’s never played as many minutes as he has under us. And so regularly. That’s why I don’t see the conflict in terms of personnel.“
