A new chapter could be opening up for Mathys Tel this summer. The former Bayern striker appears to be facing a possible future outside the Premier League. According to information from transfer insider Ekrem Konur, Galatasaray is reportedly interested in signing the Frenchman.
Mathys Tel appears to be on the verge of leaving Tottenham Hotspur. After the former Bayern striker moved to London last summer for 35 million euros, he could now leave the Spurs after just one season.
As reported by transfer insider Ekrem Konur, Galatasaray is looking into signing the 21-year-old. The top Turkish club is said to have submitted a loan offer of 2.5 million pounds to Tottenham Hotspur. According to the report, the offer also includes a buyout option of 21 million pounds.
Galatasaray Apparently His Preferred Destination
After a mixed spell with FC Bayern, Tel made a permanent move to London last summer. At Tottenham, however, the attacking player has so far been unable to fully realize his hopes for a fresh start on the field.
Now, another club transfer could be on the table. According to Konur, Tel himself is reportedly considering leaving the Spurs if he isn’t offered the prospect of regular playing time there.
Galatasaray is reportedly the Frenchman’s preferred destination at the moment. The door for a move to Turkey thus appears to be wide open.
For Tel, the Süper Lig would also be an opportunity to return to playing at a high level on a consistent basis and to build his confidence. At Galatasaray, he could play a much more significant role than he has recently in England.
A reunion with Sané?
A move would also be particularly interesting because Tel could be reunited with an old acquaintance in Istanbul: Leroy Sané.
The German national team player left FC Bayern last summer and joined the top Turkish club. If Tel were to actually move to Istanbul, it would mark a reunion between two former Bayern players.
From a sporting perspective, this pairing could also prove intriguing. Sané brings experience and quality to the attacking wings, while Tel still has plenty of room to grow and can play both centrally and on the wing.

Porto is also interested
However, Galatasaray isn’t the only club showing interest in Tel. FC Porto is also reportedly considering a loan deal for the French player. According to Konur, though, the top Portuguese club hasn’t made an official offer yet.
For Tottenham, the decisive factor is likely to be which solution best serves the club’s long-term interests. With its proposed model combining a loan fee and a purchase option, Galatasaray has at least outlined one possible path forward.
Tel, for his part, faces an important decision. After his difficult time in Munich and a spell at Tottenham that hasn’t gone ideally so far, his next move could be crucial in determining whether he can breathe new life into his career.
