By extending Harry Kane ’s contract through 2029, FC Bayern has reached another important milestone in its long-term roster planning. The reigning Ballon d’Or winner will remain with the German record champions and is expected to play a central role in the coming years. There’s a clear plan behind this: Munich wants to finally win the Champions League again.
At the official presentation of the new contract at the Allianz Arena, club officials made no secret of their ambitions. CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen and sporting director Max Eberl celebrated the extension as a major success and a clear signal to their European rivals.
In fact, over the past few months, Bayern has laid the groundwork to remain competitive at the highest level for the long term. With Kane, one of the team’s last major building blocks is now under contract for several years. The goal is clear: The Champions League trophy is to return to Munich by 2029.
Bayern Secures Its Stars for the Long Term
“The world’s best striker has signed with a club that is thus demonstrating it is among the most attractive destinations in international soccer, both athletically and financially,” Dreesen explained at the press conference.
Eberl also emphasized the symbolic significance of the contract extension. It shows, he said, “that the biggest goals are possible at FC Bayern.”
A look at the contract structure underscores Munich’s long-term strategy. In addition to Kane, numerous other key players are under contract through at least the summer of 2029. These include, among others, Michael Olise, Luis Díaz, Joshua Kimmich, Jonathan Tah, Konrad Laimer, and Aleksandar Pavlovic.
The young prospects Lennart Karl, Tom Bischof, and Jonas Urbig also have long-term contracts.
With Jamal Musiala, Dayot Upamecano, and Alphonso Davies, other key players are under contract even beyond 2029.
The future on the coaching staff is also particularly important. Vincent Kompany is likewise under contract with the German record champions through 2029.
This gives Munich a stable foundation that is set to compete for the biggest titles together in the coming years.
Kane Makes a Clear Champions League Statement
Kane made it clear during his contract extension that winning the Champions League is the top priority. “I want to win many more titles with this great club. The Champions League is a major goal for me. It would be an incredible feeling. The pressure is now on me—on us,” the Englishman explained.
The 33-year-old is convinced that Bayern has what it takes to triumph on the European stage. “I believe in this project. I know where the team is headed,” Kane emphasized.
When they signed him in the summer of 2023, the Munich club had already made a massive financial investment. Looking back, Dreesen described the transfer at the time as a sort of “all-in” decision.
By securing the striker’s long-term commitment once again, Bayern are consistently continuing down this path.
A 2028 home final as the big goal?

The prospect of future Champions League finals is particularly appealing to the Munich club. This season’s final will be held at the Estadio Metropolitano in Madrid. Bayern most recently celebrated an impressive 2-0 away victory there against Atlético.
In the summer of 2028, a very special opportunity awaits: The Champions League final will take place at their home stadium, the Allianz Arena. A Champions League triumph in their own stadium would be a historic achievement for FC Bayern.
If that doesn’t work out by then, the 2029 final at Camp Nou offers another opportunity within the term of Kane’s new contract.
In any case, the on-field conditions are right. After reaching the semifinals last season, the Munich team is once again among the top favorites.
By securing long-term commitments from their key players, Bayern has now created planning stability.
The mission is thus clearly defined: By 2029 at the latest, FC Bayern is set to reclaim Europe’s soccer throne. Harry Kane is expected to be one of the key figures in that effort.
