FC Bayern faces a challenge on Saturday against 1. FSV Mainz 05. We’ll show you where you can watch the Munich team’s Bundesliga match live on TV and via live stream.
FC Bayern’s Bundesliga campaign continues on Saturday. On Matchday 9, the German record champions will travel to face 1. FSV Mainz 05. Kickoff at the MEWA Arena is at 3:30 p.m. Before the upcoming international break, the Munich side is looking to head into the break with an away win.
Bayern heads to Rheinhessen on a roll. In the Champions League this week, the FCB secured a 2-0 victory at Atlético Madrid. Lennart Karl put Munich ahead with a spectacular chip shot, and Konrad Laimer sealed the win. Despite numerous absences, Bayern impressed with a cohesive team performance in their away win in Madrid.
Now they’re looking to follow that up with another win in the Bundesliga. Most recently, the Munich side had to settle for a 2-2 draw in the classic derby against Borussia Dortmund. After Laimer and Dayot Upamecano had each put Bayern ahead, the record champions conceded a second equalizer shortly before the final whistle.
Aaron Danks will once again take charge on the sidelines in Mainz. Vincent Kompany is still recovering from his illness. Club officials are hoping for the head coach’s return soon but want to give him the time he needs. A specific date for his comeback has not yet been set.
In terms of personnel, the situation remains tight, especially on offense. Serge Gnabry, Ismael Saibari, and Luis Díaz are still out. Although Jamal Musiala has resumed training with his teammates, Danks says it’s still too early for him to play against Mainz.
At the same time, the coaching staff must keep an eye on the workload of the available players. After the intense past few weeks, changes to the starting lineup are possible. Among other things, Danks mentioned the possibility of giving Alphonso Davies a rest. As for Aleksandar Pavlovic, it remains to be seen how he responds to the most recent training sessions.
For their part, Mainz are looking to put an end to a difficult stretch. Most recently, the Rheinhessen side suffered three consecutive competitive losses. Their elimination from the DFB Cup against Bochum was followed by a decisive 1-4 defeat at SV Elversberg. Against Bayern, the hosts now have the opportunity to secure a victory in front of their home crowd.
