Harry Kane’s contract extension with FC Bayern appears to be imminent. After the English superstar himself had already announced that an agreement was imminent, Sky reporter Kerry Hau has now added to the story. According to her, the new contract could even be signed as early as this week.
Bayern fans apparently won’t have to wait much longer. For weeks, officials at the German record champions have been working on an early contract extension with Harry Kane. The 33-year-old’s current contract runs through the summer of 2027 but is set to be extended by two more years until 2029.
Even before the Champions League match against Atlético Madrid , Kane had made it clear at the press conference that the talks were in the final stages. “I think it’s more a matter of days. We had talks over the weekend and today. We’re extremely close now. It’s just a matter of details that the lawyers need to work out,” explained the Ballon d’Or winner.
Now there’s another update. On the Sky podcast “Mia san vier,” Bayern insider Kerry Hau commented on the current status of the negotiations and gave fans hope for an announcement that the deal is finalized soon.
Hau expects the contract to be signed this week.
“Yes, my gut feeling tells me it will happen this week,” Hau said when asked when the contract extension might become official.
The Sky reporter cited both information from sources close to the negotiations and the striker’s most recent statements. According to these, everything points to the new contract being signed shortly.
The Englishman’s personal situation also points to him staying with the German record champions for the long term. Kane feels extremely at home in Munich with his family and continues to see FC Bayern as the ideal environment for sporting success.
“Well, he feels at home in Munich with his family. They’re all settled there, and he’ll remain a Bayern player until 2029,” Hau emphasized.
However, official confirmation of the contract extension is still pending.
New release clause for Kane under discussion

While a basic agreement appears to have been reached, some interesting details could still come into play during the final contract negotiations.
As reported by Sky Sports UK, a new buyout clause is being discussed as part of the negotiations. In addition, Kane’s former club, Tottenham Hotspur, could secure a so-called matching right. This would allow the London club to match any offer from another club on the same terms should the striker decide to leave.
However, this would not include an automatic right of return. The decision regarding a potential transfer would still rest with Kane himself.
For FC Bayern, the impending contract extension would send an important signal. Since his move in the summer of 2023, Kane has developed into a key performer and a leader on the team. By winning the Ballon d’Or, the Englishman has once again underscored his exceptional status.
