This summer, Ismael Saibari transferred from PSV Eindhoven to FC Bayern. He has now been awarded a major Eredivisie honor retroactively.
In fact, Saibari was one of the dominant players in the Netherlands last season. The Moroccan, who also made a name for himself at the World Cup this summer, consistently delivered top-level performances.
That’s why Saibari was also voted Player of the Year in the Eredivisie. It has been known for some time that he would receive this trophy. Now he has officially been awarded the coveted “Gouden Schoen.”

It comes as no surprise that Saibari was able to claim this title. The Moroccan national team player was directly involved in 23 goals across 27 games last season. He scored 15 goals and provided 8 assists. This made him the most productive midfielder of the season, averaging a goal involvement every 94 minutes.
These numbers are absolutely outstanding and once again clearly demonstrate how important Saibari was to PSV’s play.
Saibari, who moved to Munich this summer and plays there with the number 34 on his jersey, signed a long-term contract at Säbener Straße that runs through 2031. On Friday, he scored his first Bundesliga goal in the match against FC Union.
Bayern had largely sealed the deal for Saibari early on in the World Cup. And the club’s decision-makers had a good nose for talent, as the attacking midfielder emerged as one of the most intriguing players in the tournament.
In the last World Cup match he played, Saibari suffered an injury and had to work his way back into form. That’s why he’s still on his way to reaching his absolute peak. Without a doubt, however, he has gotten better and more valuable with each passing game for the record champions.
