FC Bayern will host Union Berlin on Friday evening. Vincent Kompany has a full roster to choose from and is expected to field his starting lineup again.
Following their narrow 2-1 victory at SV Elversberg, FC Bayern returns to Bundesliga action as early as Friday evening. At 8:30 p.m., the German record champions will host 1. FC Union Berlin at the Allianz Arena.
Unlike in their recent match at Elversberg, Vincent Kompany is expected to rely largely on his starting lineup this time around. The Bayern coach confirmed before the match that his entire squad is available.
In goal, there’s no getting around Manuel Neuer. The back four could also mirror the lineup that started in the recent 5-0 Champions League win over Bodo/Glimt. Konrad Laimer is expected to start on the right, with Dayot Upamecano and Jonathan Tah forming the center-back pairing. Alphonso Davies is likely to be preferred over Nathaniel Brown on the left side once again.
In midfield, too, everything points to the tried-and-true combination of Joshua Kimmich and Aleksandar Pavlovic.
Musiala is set for his next start.
The lineup in the attack is particularly interesting. Jamal Musiala could once again start in the number 10 role against Union. The 23-year-old made his starting lineup comeback in the 5-0 win over Bodo/Glimt and scored right away. In the subsequent away game at Elversberg, he was initially rested and didn’t come on until the second half.
Michael Olise and Luis Díaz are expected to start on the wings. However, there remains a question mark regarding the Colombian. Díaz is currently searching for his top form and has recently failed to capitalize on several good opportunities. With new signing Ismael Saibari, Kompany would have an alternative for the left side of the attack.

Harry Kane is likely to start once again as the center forward. Another option depending on how the game unfolds is Serge Gnabry. The 31-year-old returned to the roster for the first time in Elversberg following his long injury layoff. Ahead of the Union match, Kompany has now hinted at the possibility of playing time for the attacking player for the first time.
Meanwhile, Union is expected to take the field in Munich with a compact formation. For the Berliners, Josip Juranovic’s availability remains in doubt due to an infection. Christopher Trimmel would be the alternative at right back.
