Jamal Musiala is back on the soccer field. The 23-year-old made his comeback during FC Bayern’s 0-0 draw at Schalke following his health issues. Manuel Neuer expressed relief afterward and also looked ahead to the future.
FC Bayern could not manage more than a 0–0 draw against Schalke 04. While the result was less than satisfactory, Jamal Musiala’s return provided some positive news.
Musiala came on as a substitute for Lennart Karl in the 57th minute, marking his first appearance in a competitive match since his two collapses during preseason. Despite the disappointing result, there was great joy within the Bayern squad over his return.
“That’s really nice. We’re all happy,” Manuel Neuer said after the game. The Bayern captain is convinced that Musiala will soon return to his former form: “We’re all convinced that he’ll perform at his best again. We’ll be thrilled when he starts deciding games for us once more.”
Eberl: “Very, very positive”
Max Eberl also expressed satisfaction with the attacking star’s comeback. “Very, very positive,” was the Bayern sporting director’s assessment of Musiala’s brief appearance at Schalke.
The developments of the past few weeks were apparently decisive for his return. Musiala had previously completed a strong training period and received the green light from the medical staff. His medication was also readjusted following the issues he experienced during preseason.
Coach Vincent Kompany had already stated before the match that Musiala had had two good weeks: “The fact that he’s playing now is solely because he’s already had two good weeks. Of course, he’s gotten the green light from all the experts. He feels good himself, too,“ the Bayern coach told Sky.
On the field, however, Musiala was not yet able to make a decisive impact against Schalke. Although Bayern increased the pressure after he came on as a substitute, they ultimately failed to score for the first time since July 2025.
For Musiala, the focus is now on gradually regaining his former form. The 23-year-old has now taken the first important step with his return to competitive action against Schalke.
