FC Bayern is already looking into potential signings for the upcoming season. In the process, a familiar face from the Bundesliga is said to have caught the eye of the German record champions. According to the Italian website CalcioMercato, Manu Koné of AS Roma is on Munich’s radar. The French national team player could become an interesting transfer target in the summer of 2027.
Since moving to Italy, Koné has developed into a key player for AS Roma. The 25-year-old impresses in central midfield with his dynamism, strength in one-on-one situations, and physical presence.
The Frenchman is well known in Germany. Before his move to Serie A, Koné was under contract with Borussia Mönchengladbach. There, he drew attention with his performances and developed into a sought-after midfielder.
Now, the former Gladbach player could have the opportunity to return to the Bundesliga next summer.
Koné won’t come cheap
According to CalcioMercato, FC Bayern officials are exploringthe possibility of signing the French international.
A transfer in the summer of 2027 could be an option for the Munich club. With his physical and dynamic playing style, Koné would open up additional possibilities in central midfield.
However, signing him is likely to be anything but easy. At AS Roma, the 25-year-old is one of the key players in coach Gian Piero Gasperini’s system. The Italians therefore have little interest in letting their star player go.
According to the report, an interested club would have to “submit an exceptionally high offer” to convince the decision-makers in Rome to sell. His current market value is estimated at 60 million euros.
Does Bayern need reinforcements in midfield?

In central midfield, Munich already has two established starters in Joshua Kimmich and Aleksandar Pavlovic. Koné could further increase competition in midfield and offer the record champions additional options.
Whether Bayern will actually make a concrete move in the summer of 2027 remains to be seen, however.
In addition to sporting considerations regarding squad planning, the financial aspect is likely to be the decisive factor. AS Roma is in a strong position in any potential negotiations and is unlikely to let its key player go without a fight.
