On Wednesday evening at 8:45 p.m., FC Bayern will play an away game against VfL Osnabrück. The reason for the visit to the second-division club is the first round of the DFB Cup. Ahead of the match, there were some unanswered questions regarding the lineup.
Vincent Kompany had already hinted at the press conference that Jonas Urbig would be in goal. Otherwise, however, the Belgian didn’t want to reveal his hand just yet when it came to rotation.
The roster offers several options, but the team has only played two competitive matches so far and is just starting to find its rhythm. That’s why it was a matter of weighing the pros and cons when deciding how much to shake up the lineup.

It should be clear from Kompany’s remarks at Tuesday’s press conference that FC Bayern isn’t taking the game lightly. “I’ve heard a lot about the Bremer Brücke—that it can be tough here. It’s a puzzle you always have to solve. It doesn’t matter whether it’s a Bundesliga team or a second-division team,” said the Bayern coach.
The mystery surrounding the lineup has now been revealed; Coach Kompany has named his starting eleven to lead the charge for advancement. As previously announced, Jonas Urbig will be in goal for Bayern.
In the back four, Josip Stanisic is once again playing on the outside, while Jonathan Tah moves into the lineup in place of Dayot Upamecano. Minjae Kim retains his spot in the starting eleven; he has been the dominant defender of late. Nathaniel Brown, who previously played in an attacking role in the center, is playing left back this time.
Tom Bischof joins the lineup alongside Joshua Kimmich; up front, Michael Olise, Luis Diaz, and Harry Kane remain in the starting lineup, but Ismael Saibari makes his first-team debut for the record champions.
