FC Bayern has made several transfers this summer, many of them involving players leaving the club. Now the next deal is all wrapped up.
As previously announced, Arijon Ibrahimović is leaving the record-holding champions just before the end of the transfer window. The forward is heading to FC Augsburg on loan.
FCA has also secured a buy option, which, according to various media reports, is said to be around eight million euros.
Bayern lets Ibrahimović go
The record champions had actually planned to keep the attacking player and even extended Ibrahimović’s contract at the start of the summer transfer window. He was slated to serve as backup for the offense, but in the end, things took a different turn.
“We sat down with Arijon and agreed that it would be best for his development if we loan him out for another season. He’s a young player with tremendous potential, and he needs regular playing time at this stage of his career. He’ll get that at FC Augsburg, and we’ll continue to closely support him on this journey,” explained FCB sporting director Christoph Freund in the record champion’s press release.
“I’m very excited about this new opportunity in Augsburg because FCA is an ambitious Bundesliga club. I, too, want to continue developing and gain plenty of playing time. That’s why I want to integrate into the team as quickly as possible and contribute to a successful season,” said Arijon Ibrahimović after finalizing his deal with FCA.
In Augsburg, Ibrahimović has significantly more opportunities to make a name for himself and get regular playing time at the highest level in the Bundesliga than he did at FC Bayern. Despite the relatively thin roster, his chances of taking the field week after week weren’t that great.
