FC Bayern won the Super Cup against Borussia Dortmund on Saturday. The record champions prevailed 2–1 at Signal Iduna Park. It was not only a victory and a title, but also a special game for Manuel Neuer.
The goalkeeper’s trophy collection continues to grow. He has now won his 36th title as a professional, putting him at the top of the list of the most successful German players of all time.
And he’s the only one. It’s a historic milestone for Neuer, who is now making history.
Neuer continues to rack up titles
He has won the German championship 13 times on his own, starting in 2013. His most recent league title came this past summer.
Neuer has won the DFB Cup seven times—six with Bayern and once with Schalke 04. His victory in the Super Cup against Dortmund marked his ninth title in that competition. He has also won the UEFA Super Cup, the UEFA Champions League, and the Club World Cup twice each.
In addition to his triumph in the Champions League, winning the World Cup in the summer of 2014 with the German national team was a major highlight. Following Neuer on this list are two other absolutely outstanding players: Thomas Müller (35) and Toni Kroos (34).
Neuer’s trophy collection is not yet complete. This season, Bayern has the chance to win the Bundesliga, the DFB Cup, and the Champions League once again. After that, however, Neuer is reportedly set to call it quits; even though the goalkeeper is keeping all his options open, his career is likely to end after the 2026–27 season.
And if you’ve watched FC Bayern during preseason and in the Super Cup, you can safely assume that Neuer’s trophy collection isn’t complete just yet.
