FC Bayern secured their 35th German championship with a commanding 4-2 win over VfB Stuttgart – and received plenty of praise from the highest echelons of the game. German coach Julian Nagelsmann in particular sees the Munich side’s title win as an important signal ahead of the upcoming World Cup
„I’m particularly pleased for my national team players, of course, because we have big plans together in the summer,“ explained Nagelsmann in a statement from the DFB. The former Bayern coach was present at the Allianz Arena for the decisive match and was impressed by the team’s development under Vincent Kompany
„The winning mentality and the self-image they bring to the pitch in every game at Bayern are absolutely impressive,“ Nagelsmann emphasized. He particularly highlighted the work of head coach Vincent Kompany: „He has managed to form a team in an impressive way that has not only won the title with confidence, but also spectacularly.“
The Munich team also made a statement with their attack, with more than 100 goals in one season being „an extraordinary mark“, according to the national coach
Great recognition from the DFB
DFB President Bernd Neuendorf also praised the record champions‘ performance, saying the title was an expression of „impressive consistency and dominance“ over the entire season. The attacking style of play was particularly impressive and was „the best advertisement for the Bundesliga“
DFB sports director Rudi Völler echoed similar sentiments and referred to Munich’s international appeal. „It’s fun to watch this team,“ said the former international striker, while also expressing a clear wish: „I hope that our FC Bayern players bring their team spirit to the World Cup.“
Praise also from politics and the league
There were also congratulations from politicians. Bavaria’s Minister President Markus Söder spoke of an „outstanding season“ and described FC Bayern as the „figurehead of the Free State of Bavaria in the world“. At the same time, he hopes for more titles in the coming weeks
The German Football League also paid tribute to Munich’s achievements, with managing directors Marc Lenz and Steffen Merkel praising the „exceptional Bundesliga season“ and the new goal record with which the record champions had once again set new standards
