Bara Sapoko Ndiaye celebrates his debut in the FC Bayern squad against FC St. Pauli. The Senegalese talent only joined the German record champions in the winter
Bara Sapoko Ndiaye can look forward to making his debut in the FC Bayern squad this Saturday, probably also due to the injuries to Serge Gnabry and Lennart Karl. The 18-year-old from Senegal was only signed on loan from Gambinos Stars Africa in the winter
As became known shortly after the transfer, Ndiaye is part of the so-called „Red & Gold Academy“, an international development project of FC Bayern in cooperation with Los Angeles FC and selected partner clubs worldwide
The aim is to identify exceptional talents at an early stage and introduce them to the top European level in a structured manner. Ndiaye is now the first of them to have the chance to prove himself at FC Bayern
Ndiaye „is one of the best talents on the Bayern campus“
Bayern coach Vincent Kompany was asked about Ndiaye for the first time a few weeks after the signing – and found clear, positive words. „Speed,“ was the Belgian’s initial terse response when asked about the talent’s most striking qualities – an attribute that plays a central role in FC Bayern’s playing system and explains the interest of the sporting management
Kompany also made it clear at the time that Ndiaye is in a special situation. Due to the regulations, the midfielder is not allowed to play for the second team in the regional league, which limits his sporting opportunities. This made the daily work in training all the more important for Kompany at the time, which has now clearly paid off
„He has shown that he is one of the talents we have in the Bayern youth squad. Things are going well for him,“ said the Bayern coach. At the time, it was less about short-term playing time and more about adapting, learning and internalizing the processes at the highest level. Now Ndiaye seems ready to strengthen the FC Bayern team, at least from the bench.
