FC Bayern are continuing to make plans for the defense of the future, and there are increasing indications of a possible transfer of Marc Guehi.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Munich are one of the hottest contenders alongside Liverpool FC to sign the England international. Talks with FC Barcelona are said to have stalled and Guehi’s salary demands are considered too high. The 25-year-old is reportedly pushing for a quick decision and could sign a contract with his new club as early as January. Guehi is said to be keen on the FC Bayern project, although he was already on the verge of a move to the Reds last summer.
It has recently been reported several times that Guehi is being considered internally as a strategic option – especially if Dayot Upamecano leaves the club. According to Sky, FC Bayern want to waste no time in their pursuit of the defender and are preparing an attractive offer that should convince the defender financially.
Competition between Upamecano, Tah and Guehi?

Despite a defensively stable first half of the season, Bayern’s central defence is a sensitive issue. Not only is Upamecano’s future still unclear, his contract expires in the summer of 2026. Although talks over an extension are now considered advanced, a deal is still pending. At the same time, the situation surrounding Minjae Kim is also open. The South Korean currently has few sporting prospects under Vincent Kompany and, with an estimated annual salary of up to €17 million, is one of the top earners in the squad. A sale is not out of the question.
If Kim or Upamecano were to leave, Guehi is considered the preferred solution. The Crystal Palace defender would be free to leave in 2026. Bayern want to take action from January and make Guehi a concrete offer, according to reports. However, Jonathan Tah is another central defender with corresponding demands in the Munich squad. The former Leverkusen player has also impressed at the Isar so far following his summer transfer. It should therefore be exciting to see what the central defence will look like at the record champions next season.
