After many years at FC Bayern, Kathleen Krüger is about to move to Hamburger SV. An agreement has apparently been reached
A prominent departure from FC Bayern is on the horizon: Kathleen Krüger will leave the German record champions after many successful years and join Hamburger SV in the future. Although the move has not yet been officially announced, it has already been decided
According to the Hamburger Abendblatt, the final details have been clarified and the 40-year-old is to be presented as the new head of sport at HSV shortly. Krüger would thus be writing Bundesliga history: she would be the first woman in this position
According to the report, Krüger will sign a four-year contract in Hamburg and, together with Eric Huwer, will be responsible for the Hanseatic club’s sporting fortunes and operations
The move had already been hinted at in recent days, with Bayern sporting director Christoph Freund also confirming talks: „Yes, we can confirm that Kathleen has informed us that she is in talks with HSV.“
No transfer fee for FC Bayern
For FC Bayern, the departure also means a personnel cut: Krüger was apparently about to be promoted to director of professional soccer, but ultimately decided to move to Hamburg
The northern Germans do not have to pay a transfer fee. Krüger has an open-ended employment contract in Munich with a regular notice period

She will take on a central role at HSV, where the position of sports director has been vacant since Stefan Kuntz left the club in January. In future, Krüger will primarily be responsible for strategic issues and will also be the superior of sports director Claus Costa
With the change, FC Bayern loses an important manager – and HSV gains an experienced manager with Munich success DNA.
