With Ralf Rangnick, Roberto De Zerbi, Roger Schmidt and Julen Lopetegui, FC Bayern has had to remove four coaches from its list of candidates in the search for a new coach this week alone. Joachim Löw is another potential candidate who has taken himself out of the running.

What is Joachim Löw actually doing? The 64-year-old has not taken on a new coaching job following his departure from the DFB in summer 2021. The 2014 world champion coach has been linked with numerous clubs in the past. The name FC Bayern also came up again and again.

Due to a lack of alternatives in the search for a successor to Thomas Tuchel, Löw was recently (once again) rumoured to be a candidate in Munich. The rumours were fuelled yesterday when Löw was spotted together with sporting director Max Eberl at the MHP Arena in Stuttgart.

Löw has no interest in the Bayern job

However, Löw will not be joining the German record champions. According to Eberl, this is mainly down to Löw himself: „I think he has said something very clear about it. Then I won’t bother with it any more. Anyone who says they don’t want to coach Bayern Munich doesn’t want to coach Bayern Munich. Then we will find a coach who wants to coach Bayern Munich,“ explained the 50-year-old in an interview with BILD.

Löw had already stated at the beginning of the year that a coaching job at FC Bayern would not appeal to him: „There are probably various reasons. A, Bayern are not interested in me, probably as a coach, and I would not be interested in Bayern Munich either.

„There was no communication about the coaching position“

Eberl also made it clear that the brief exchange with Löw was not about the current coaching search at FCB: „There was no communication about the coaching position. It’s completely normal when you go to the stadium and see the former national team coach with his analyst that you say ‚hello'“.
