In the search for a new defensive midfielder, Amadou Onana is now also a candidate at FC Bayern. The Munich management are said to be impressed by the Belgian.

FC Bayern apparently have Amadou Onana from Everton FC on their list. This is reported by Belgian transfer expert Sacha Tavolieri. According to the report, Bayern are impressed by Onana’s recent performances.

The English Telegraph had previously reported on FC Bayern’s interest in the 22-year-old Belgian international.

According to the Telegraph, Onana, who still has a contract with Everton until 2027, would probably cost more than £60 million. That is the equivalent of around 70 million euros.

Several Premier League clubs are also rumoured to be interested in Onana, with FC Barcelona also rumoured to be interested.

Bayern candidate Onana has already played in Germany

Interesting fact: Onana has a past in Germany. He moved from Belgium to TSG Hoffenheim’s youth academy in 2017. From there, he moved to Hamburger SV in 2020, where he played 25 second division matches for the Hanseatic club. His next stop was Lille in France. There he made a name for himself in Ligue 1 and moved to Everton in the Premier League after just one season.

In midfield, Onana is a real distributor. At 1.95 metres tall, he makes an imposing impression physically alone.

Despite the breakthrough of home-grown Aleksandar Pavlovic in the current season, Bayern are probably looking to strengthen their centre midfield for the coming season. Another candidate for this position is the Spaniard Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad.

Last summer, the club was already on the verge of signing Joao Palhinha for the defensive midfield. However, the Portuguese’s move from Fulham FC fell through at the last minute. Whether Palhinha will be a candidate at FCB again next summer is questionable.
