After the Serbian association courted Aleksandar Pavlovic, national coach Julian Nagelsmann has nominated the FC Bayern shooting star for the upcoming international matches. The 19-year-old was due to make his debut for the German national team next weekend. However, an unexpected bout of tonsillitis has thwartedthese plans – and now he is also in danger of being ruled out for the Bundesliga top match in Dortmund.

The joy of being nominated by national coach Julian Nagelsmann for the first time was abruptly spoilt by tonsillitis. Despite an impressive performance in the last Bundesliga match in Darmstadt, in which a bruise over his left eye could not stop him, the midfielder had to leave the national team’s training camp. His participation in the upcoming European Championship test matches against France and the Netherlands is therefore ruled out.

Accordingto information from BILD, which is based on internal sources at the club, this is the player’s third bout of tonsillitis in just a few months. Pavlovic already had to take an extended break in the autumn, which cost him important appearances in the first team.

Pavlovic fights for the top game

Pavlovic is the high-flyer at FC Bayern this season. With consistently strong performances, he has earned himself a place in the German record champions‘ hard-fought midfield. He has played a total of 13 games this season, scoring two goals and providing two assists. Now only tonsillitis is preventing him from making the German national team.

The young player is currently in Munich recovering from his illness in the hope of being fit in time for the top match against Dortmund. The classic match will take place in Munich on 30 March at 6.30 pm.
