There has been much speculation about the future of Florian Wirtz, who could possibly end up at FC Bayern one day. Now Florian Wirtz’s father Hans reveals where his son will be playing in the coming season.

Father and advisor Hans Wirtz confirms: Florian Wirtz will still be part of Bayer 04 Leverkusen next season. The attacking midfielder will continue his development in Leverkusen for at least one more season before a move abroad or within the Bundesliga could take place. Among other things, the prospect of playing in the UEFA Champions League with Bayer next season is tempting, as the German super talent has never made an appearance in the top flight.

Wirtz’s Champions League prospects: „next training phase“

„If Florian plays in the Champions League with Leverkusen next season, he will enter the next phase of his training,“ Wirtz’s father is quoted as saying by Sport BILD. Incidentally, the fact that he has not yet made any appearances in the competition in question was not due to his team, but to the cruciate ligament rupture in 2022, which prevented any appearances against the best teams in Europe. Leverkusen already have a 21-point lead over RB Leipzig. Consequently, they can theoretically seal qualification for the Champions League on the matchday after next.

But who will be Florian Wirtz’s coach then? This question is still unresolved, even though Xabi Alonso’s contract de facto continues to run. Speaking of contracts: Florian Wirtz’s contract has also been extended on a long-term basis. The 20-year-old’s working paper is valid until 2027. Those responsible at the club were also able to exclude an exit clause. This means that the – certainly not low – price for the playmaker can be freely negotiated.

Liverpool, Manchester United or FCB after all? Wirtz will be virtually free to choose his future employer. the 14-time German international has 34 appearances in all competitions this season, 10 goals and 17 assists to his name.
