FC Bayern are apparently still interested in signing Ronald Araujo from FC Barcelona. And the Catalans would also be open to a sale under certain conditions.
FC Bayern apparently have the option of signing their dream defender Ronald Araujo from FC Barcelona in the summer. However, such a deal will not come cheap: According to ESPN, Barca would consider selling the defender if they received an offer of 100 million euros for him.
According to various media reports, Bayern expressed their interest in Araujo in January. ESPN cites sources in Barcelona who believe that the German record champions will make a new offer in the summer.
Bayern would not be without competition, however: according to the report, at least one major club from the English Premier League is also monitoring the situation surrounding Araujo and is prepared to make a move if FC Barcelona make an offer.
FC Bayern? Araujo apparently not averse
Araujo was considered the absolute favourite of FCB coach Thomas Tuchel in the winter. However, it is now clear that the coach will leave the club at the end of the current season. According to Sport BILD, however, the qualities of Araujo are still highly valued by those in charge at FC Bayern, even though Tuchel will leave in the summer. The Uruguay international is therefore still on the list of sporting director Max Eberl and sporting director Christoph Freund.
According to the report, Bayern even made several attempts to sign Araujo in January, but Barcelona turned them down each time.
Bayern bosses are now hoping that the departure of Barca coach Xavi after the season could open the door for a move for the defender in the summer.
According to Sport BILD, Araujo was not averse to a move to FC Bayern in the winter. It remains to be seen whether Bayern will be prepared to put the €100 million demanded on the table for him in the summer.
