Aleksandar Pavlovic is considered one of the winners under current head coach Thomas Tuchel. The 19-year-old almost ended up at 1860 Munich, as his former coach Danny Schwarz reveals.

„His future at Bayern was always in doubt. In the U16s, he was at a crossroads,“ Danny Schwarz revealed in an interview with Spox. The 48-year-old is currently head coach of FC Homburg, but among other things, he accompanied Pavlovic as coach of the German record champions‘ U16s and U17s. „Haching and 1860 had him and other talented players who got less match practice at Bayern on their radar,“ added the coach.

„But he always said: ‚I absolutely want to stay at Bayern and fight my way through here‘,“ recalls Schwarz, who recognised that Pavlovic had already fully identified with FC Bayern back then. Despite the advances of his local rivals, a transfer was out of the question for the defensive midfielder.

„He always believed in himself“

„You could always see what an incredibly good footballer he is,“ Halil Altintop, Sporting Director at FC Bayern Campus, also enthuses about the midfielder.

„But he had a harder time at first because he developed physically quite late. But we always had a lot of trust in each other. He always believed in himself and worked on himself, both in terms of football and personal development,“ Altintop continues. He was barely considered by then coach Danny Schwarz in the summer of 2020.

According to Schwarz, the coronavirus pandemic was the starting point for his rapid development. In the meantime, the Munich-born player has developed to such an extent that he has made eleven appearances in the Bundesliga. The Germany U20 international has already scored two goals and provided two assists.
