The search for a coach at FC Bayern is in full swing. Even though the Munich club has recently been linked with numerous names, there are currently only two concrete candidates at Säbener Straße. In addition to Xabi Alonso, Max Eberl also has his eye on Roberto De Zerbi.

The fact remains: Xabi Alonso is the absolute favourite candidate at FC Bayern to succeed Thomas Tuchel. The signing of the 42-year-old is a top priority for the German record champions.

As reported by Sky, the Munich club certainly have a good hand in the Alonso poker. Should the Basque player leave Leverkusen in the summer, he would be inclined to move to FC Bayern, as transfer insider Florian Plettenberg reports. The reason: Alonso has enormous respect for the task at Liverpool FC as the direct successor to club legend Jürgen Klopp.

According to Sky, initial talks have already taken place. Not only with the coaching management, but also with Alonso himself. The Spaniard would cost a transfer fee of 15-25 million euros this summer. However, one thing is clear: Alonso will not make a quick decision. According to reports, he does not want to take a close look at his sporting future until the end of the season at the earliest.

Eberl has a very high opinion of De Zerbi

Interestingly, according to Plettenberg, Bayern already have a plan B in Roberto De Zerbi. New sporting director Max Eberl in particular has a very high opinion of the Italian. The 44-year-old is currently „number two behind Alonso“ for Bayern.

De Zerbi would be significantly cheaper than Alonso. Thanks to a release clause of 10 million euros, he would be available in the summer. De Zerbi is currently under contract with Brighton & Hove Albion in England and is one of the rising stars on the island. With the Seagulls, he currently occupies 9th place and is sniffing at international business. Before his time on the island, the Italian played for Shakhtar Donetsk and US Sassuolo, among others.
