Are the German record champions losing a German international? According to recent media reports, Leon Goretzka’s future could lie with FC Bayern Munich after all – depending on the new head coach.

According to BILD, Leon Goretzka does not really seem to be willing to leave FC Bayern at the moment. Juventus are reportedly interested in the midfielder. The 29-year-old is rumoured not to have the best relationship with current FCB coach Thomas Tuchel. Goretzka now wants to wait and see who is hired as the new head coach at Säbener Straße and how the collaboration will develop.

A decision on the future of the centre midfielder will probably not be made until the new coach has been appointed. Goretzka joined Bayern on 1 July 2018 on a free transfer from FC Schalke 04. Since then, he has won the German championship with FCB every season – five times in total.

De Ligt and Tel are also reconsidering their future

Two cup wins and a Champions League victory with head coach Hansi Flick are also in Goretzka’s portfolio, who played in 36 competitive matches for Munich in 2016.

Goretzka would therefore be the third professional to reconsider his future due to Tuchel’s imminent departure. Two stars, Matthijs de Ligt and Mathys Tel, were already on the verge of leaving because they did not see the right prospects under Thomas Tuchel. However, anything now seems to be possible for all of these stars.

Despite his alleged problems with the manager, Goretzka himself has appeared in 27 matches for FCB in all competitions this season. The Bochum native has contributed two goals and five assists to the club’s success.
