Due to the departure of Niklas Süle and the signing of Noussair Mazraoui, Bayern’s defense will change noticeably in the new season. The club is still looking for a central defender and has set requirements.

While sports director Hasan Salihamidzic recently praised the Bayern defense, especially the quality, Julian Nagelsmann does not have that much trust in the existing staff, according to „SPORT1“. The Bayern coach has repeatedly hinted that he is hoping for a new central defender in the summer.

‚Tageszeitung‘ reveals that those responsible at Bayern Munich are currently exploring the market intensively. According to the newspaper, they are looking for a German-speaking central defender. This is mainly due to the fact that the departure of David Alaba and Jerome Boateng, who were very communicative hurt Bayern’s defense leadership. Nagelsmann is also wishing for a “leader” who can take over responsibilities quite quickly.

The problem: there are not many candidates who meet this requirement profile. Antonio Rüdiger would have been one of them. The German international is about to move to Real Madrid. It is all the more painful for Bayern that they have lost three central defenders for free in Niklas Süle, Alaba, and Boateng in the past two years.
