Report: Bayern’s wish transfer Ryan Gravenberch out with an injury for weeks
Ajax Amsterdam’s midfielder Ryan Gravenberch is on verge of joining Bayern Munich, while only the transfer fee remains the problem. On Wednesday afternoon, an update just came from Ajax’s camp regarding the Dutchman.
Will it be an obstacle to the transfer or a blessing in disguise? Ajax’s insider Mike Verweij of the Dutch „Telegraaf“ reported on Wednesday that Gravenberch sustained an ankle injury during team training with the club. According to the journalist, the youngster’s season is over as there are only three games left to be played. Although it is „not a serious injury“, the midfielder is facing a long break of up to six weeks.
The Gravenberch injury comes at a very bad time for Amsterdam. Ajax are only four points ahead of PSV Eindhoven with three games left in the season and has to do without Gravenberch, who’s shown excellent performances recently.
It remains to be seen whether this new update can be an advantage or a disadvantage for Bayern. The 19-year-old is regarded as Bayern’s absolute dream player and the clubs are still far apart when it comes to the transfer fee, as Ajax is demanding 30 million euros. Bayern is only offering 17 million euros plus 6 mil bonuses.
Should Bayern keep pursuing Gravenberch even after the injury, there is a chance that Ajax should be forced to lower the transfer demands due to the recent injury of the player, thus being sold for a cheaper price. At the same time, it signals trouble for Bayern too, with the price going down, more clubs are likely to pursue the player, even though he has already accepted Bayern’s offer. Juventus and Manchester United were also said to be interested in the Dutchman.
