Wael Mohya has caught FC Bayern’s attention. Max Eberl is now speaking about the Gladbach talent—and his comments are turning heads.
FC Bayern is keeping an eye on Wael Mohya’s development. However, sporting director Max Eberl has denied that the club has made a concrete move for the 17-year-old. Ahead of the Bundesliga match in Mainz, the Bayern boss made it clear that the Munich club is monitoring the Gladbach player but has not yet held any talks.
“FC Bayern keeps every young German talent on its radar and takes a look at them,” Eberl told Sky. With that, the sporting director made it clear that Mohya is also on the Munich club’s radar. The youngster has made a name for himself at Borussia Mönchengladbach with his performances and was named to the senior national team for the first time by Jürgen Klopp.
When asked about possible contact, Eberl was clear: “We haven’t spoken a word to the young player, his agency, or Gladbach.”
In doing so, the sporting director is putting the brakes on speculation about efforts that may already be underway. Previously, the “Bayern Insider” podcast had reported on contacts with the player’s immediate circle. According to Eberl, there has been no such communication with Mohya, his representatives, or Borussia to date.
Gladbach wants to keep Mohya long-term
For Borussia, the future of their young player is a key issue. Mohya’s current contract runs through the summer of 2028. According to reports, Gladbach would like to extend it early, thereby strengthening their own position vis-à-vis potential suitors.

Interest in the attacking player has now spread beyond the Bundesliga. In addition to Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund, Liverpool FC, among others, has been linked with Mohya. Most recently, reports indicated a potential transfer fee in the range of 35 million euros. However, this figure has not been confirmed as Gladbach’s asking price.
For Mohya, in addition to his continued development at Gladbach, his athletic prospects are likely to be the deciding factor. Dietmar Hamann recently advised him against a quick move to Munich, emphasizing the importance of regular playing time.
With his DFB call-up, the 17-year-old now has his next sporting challenge ahead of him. Bayern will thus be able to continue monitoring his development during the upcoming international break.
