FC Bayern continues to work on a contract extension with Harry Kane. The goal-scoring English forward is set to be tied to the German record champions for as long as possible. Although both sides have been sending positive signals for weeks, a final agreement has yet to be reached. Sporting Director Max Eberl has now explained why the talks are not yet concluded.
Kane remains one of Munich’s key players this season. His current contract runs through the summer of 2027. Bayern therefore wants to secure planning certainty early on and prevent the future of their top striker from becoming a recurring topic next year.
Most recently, President Herbert Hainer confirmed that talks with the Englishman are progressing. Some contract details have already been settled, while other points still require further discussion.
Now Eberl has also commented on the current status.
“No white smoke yet”
During the Champions League away game at Viking Stavanger, Bayern’s sporting director was once again asked about the contract negotiations with Kane.
The 53-year-old made it clear that there had been no decisive progress recently. Eberl cited the Munich team’s tight schedule as the main reason. “The time between games is simply very tight right now. The talks are ongoing behind the scenes, and they’re going well,” explained the Bayern boss.
Although reports have recently circulated suggesting that the club and the player have reached a basic agreement, Eberl declined to confirm this: “There’s no white smoke yet. We see each other here every few days, meet up, and give interviews. But we’re on the right track,” Eberl emphasized.
Thus, the situation remains unchanged: FC Bayern and Kane are still in talks, but a new contract has not yet been signed.
Kane continues to feel at home at FC Bayern

The fact that negotiations cannot currently be pushed forward at full speed is also due to the packed schedule.
Following the Champions League match in Norway, the Bundesliga clash with RB Leipzig awaits on Saturday. Just a few days later, Munich will host Arsenal in the Champions League.
From the perspective of Bayern’s management, there appears to be no cause for concern at this time. Kane himself has emphasized on several occasions in recent weeks just how comfortable he feels in Munich. Both on and off the field, the 33-year-old seems to have settled in well at the German record champions.
The England national team captain is enjoying his role as a leader and continues to have big sporting goals with the Munich club. This is another reason why a contract extension is considered a realistic scenario, even though a final agreement has yet to be reached.
