Shortly before the Bundesliga match between FC Schalke 04 and FC Bayern, an incident occurred involving fans of the record-holding champions who had traveled to the game. About 500 Bayern fans were ejected from the stadium and are not allowed to watch the game at Veltins Arena.
According to Sport1, the incident took place in a parking lot in front of the Veltins-Arena. A scuffle reportedly broke out there between FC Bayern and FC Schalke fans. The Munich fans involved were subsequently processed by police for identification purposes.
The incident has immediate consequences for the approximately 500 affected fans. They are not permitted to watch the Bundesliga match at the stadium. After their information is recorded, the Bayern fans must begin their journey home.
As a result, a large portion of the Bayern fans who traveled to the away game will be missing from the visitors’ section.
This is already the second incident to cause a stir among fans
For Bayern fans, this is already the second incident in a short period of time to cause major frustration. Even at the Bundesliga opener against VfB Stuttgart, fans had to forgo a planned large-scale choreographed display at the Allianz Arena.
The Munich District Administrative Office had not approved the originally planned display because the banner was too large. Among other things, this was due to safety regulations regarding emergency exits and fire safety. The fans refused to adjust the banner and subsequently canceled the entire display.
Now, the next Bundesliga match is causing yet another stir. Hundreds of Bayern fans will not be allowed into the Veltins-Arena despite having traveled there. However, the specific reasons for the bans are not yet known.
This marks the second major setback for the Bayern fan base in the opening matchdays of the new season. Following the canceled choreography display in Munich, numerous supporters are now being barred from the away game at Schalke.
