The honorary president had stated in SPIEGEL that the chances of Eberl’s contract being extended were currently „60 to 40“ – with the addition: „There are still doubts.“

At the same time, the Bayern boss made it clear that he wants to define himself primarily through his work. „I want to do my job, I want to convince with my work,“ emphasized Eberl
Looking at the sporting results of the season, he added: „What we’ve done this season, as a team, as a club – that’s something to be proud of.“
Decision to be made in August
Nevertheless, Eberl was careful not to unnecessarily dramatize the statements of his superior: „You can have doubts, that’s completely legitimate. Then you talk about it,“ said the sporting director
However, Eberl was particularly surprised by the fact that there are apparently regular internal exchanges with Hoeneß. „We actually talk all the time, we spoke yesterday, we spoke today,“ he explained
According to information from the club, the final decision on Eberl’s future will not be made until the summer
Hoeneß had recently emphasized that concrete talks would not be held until 1 July anyway. The topic is then likely to be discussed intensively at the latest at the supervisory board meeting in August
There it will be assessed internally „whether Max Eberl is the manager who should lead FC Bayern into the future.“
Double strengthens Eberl’s position
In sporting terms, however, winning the double should significantly strengthen Eberl’s position. Under his stewardship, FC Bayern not only won the championship again, but also secured the DFB Cup
In addition, two key personnel decisions were made with Vincent Kompany and Michael Olise, which have proven to be major successes
Nevertheless, it seems clear that the discussion about Eberl’s long-term future at FC Bayern is far from over.
