FC Bayern have finally said goodbye to a player on loan, having exercised their option to buy him
Paul Scholl will continue to wear the jersey of Karlsruher SC in the coming season, as the second division club officially confirmed that they have exercised the agreed purchase option and signed the defensive player permanently from FC Bayern
The 19-year-old only moved from the record champions to Karlsruhe on loan last summer, where Scholl gained his first experience of professional soccer in recent months
The central defender played a total of 13 games in the Bundesliga 2 and also made ten appearances for KSC’s U23 side in the Baden-Württemberg Oberliga
According to Transfermarkt.de, the transfer fee for Scholl through the activated purchase option is 150,000 euros, plus a loan fee of 50,000 euros
KSC managing director Mario Eggimann expressed his satisfaction with the youngster’s development: „Paul has proven his ability and potential in his appearances – even in difficult pressure situations. At 19 years of age, he is still at the beginning of his development.“
He added: „As a strong and intelligent central defender, he has a very interesting profile that we are firmly relying on in our plans. We are therefore delighted to continue our journey together and would like to thank FC Bayern Munich for their continued excellent cooperation.“
Scholl immediately felt at home at KSC
Scholl himself also made it clear that the decision to stay was a quick one
„I felt very comfortable at KSC right from the start. I was very well received by the club and was able to take the next steps here to continue my development,“ explained the defensive player
„I want to push on with that in the future and I have the ideal setting for that at KSC. That’s why staying was not a big question for me.“
Prior to his loan spell, the right-footer had only played for FC Bayern’s second team, where he made 16 appearances in the Bavarian regional league
KSC plans long-term with the ex-Bayern talent
Karlsruher SC are confident that Scholl will develop strongly in the coming years

„We are very happy with Paul’s development and have been in good talks throughout the season,“ explained Director of Professional Football Timon Pauls
„We are convinced that Paul will take further steps in his development with us in the coming years. We want to provide him with the best possible support on this path in our environment, which he already knows very well thanks to his loan.“
For FC Bayern, this marks the end of the Paul Scholl chapter for good, with the record champions continuing to focus on other talented youngsters for the defense.
