Monday will be a landmark day for FC Bayern as the powerful Bayern bosses meet to discuss not only the future of the club’s sporting management, but also the transfer budget for the coming summer – and thus indirectly the future of Max Eberl
With Herbert Hainer, Uli Hoeneß and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, the record champions‘ most important decision-makers will come together for a future summit at Säbener Strasse. Alexander Sixt, who was elected as the new Chairman of the Management Advisory Board a few weeks ago, will also take part for the first time
The contracts of CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen, sporting director Max Eberl and sporting director Christoph Freund will be in particular focus. All three working papers expire in the summer of 2027
Eberl’s future remains open
While an extension with Dreesen is considered likely according to the Abendzeitung München, the situation with Eberl and Freund appears to be much more open
Eberl in particular has repeatedly come under pressure internally in recent months. The high costs associated with contract extensions in particular are said to be viewed critically within the club. Despite a strong season in sporting terms, some managers accuse the 52-year-old of further inflating the salary structure
However, Eberl himself recently made it clear that he would like to stay at FC Bayern for the long term. „If they like my job, I’m prepared to stay longer,“ explained the sporting director after the Champions League second leg against Paris Saint-Germain, adding: „We have done some very, very good things.“
Whether this assessment is also shared by the supervisory board now remains to be seen
Bayern decides on transfer millions

In addition to the personnel issue surrounding Eberl, the sporting future of the squad will also be discussed on Monday. According to the AZ report, the transfer volume for the summer is to be decided – in other words, the sum available to Eberl and Freund for reinforcements
Those responsible still see a need for action, particularly in the offensive and at right-back
Numerous names have recently been linked with the Munich club, including Anthony Gordon, while Bayern are also expected to sell several players in the summer in order to create financial leeway
For this very reason, the meeting could also be seen as an indirect vote of confidence in Eberl, as the extent of the financial room for maneuver is also likely to show how much the club’s management continues to rely on the sporting director
In sporting terms, FC Bayern can still complete a successful season and win the double, but it is clear that the coming transfer summer will be decisive for Eberl
After several costly contract extensions and some difficult transfer cases such as João Palhinha or Sacha Boey, the Bayern bosses are now expecting visible progress in squad planning
Monday could therefore be much more than just an ordinary supervisory board meeting. For Max Eberl, it is also about trust – and possibly his long-term future at FC Bayern.
