Kenan Yildiz left FC Bayern almost five years ago and looks back on his time in Munich with no regrets. The current Juventus star has clear words about his former club and speaks openly about a lack of trust
The 20-year-old, who trained at the German record champions from youth level to U19, made the move to Turin in the summer of 2022 – a decision he still does not regret today
In an interview with Corriere dello Sport, Yildiz has now opened up. His statements sound like a clear reckoning with his time at Säbener Straße. „There were a lot of problems with Bayern. I was there for eleven years, but I never felt their trust,“ explained the attacking player
The internal competitive situation obviously weighed particularly heavily on him: „There was always someone who was better than me.“ For Yildiz, the move was therefore the logical consequence: „That’s why it was easy to leave FC Bayern.“
Breakthrough in Turin

While he never made the leap to the pros in Munich, Yildiz quickly developed into a top performer at Juventus Turin
In the current season, the attacking player has scored a strong 20 points in 39 competitive matches, and his development has not gone unnoticed by the club – he only extended his long-term contract until 2030 in February
Yildiz also made a clear decision at international level, opting for the Turkish national team early on despite his German roots
The reasons for this apparently also lie in his experiences in Germany: „In Germany, I wasn’t considered good enough, they always nominated other players.“
He has already played 26 international matches for Turkey and is now a permanent member of the squad
Yildiz’s statements once again shed light on talent development at FC Bayern, with promising players from the campus repeatedly failing to make it to the professional ranks – and seeking their fortune abroad
While Yildiz is taking off in Turin, the question remains in Munich as to whether this talent could have been retained.
