The word of Uli Hoeneß carries weight at FC Bayern – especially when it comes to transfers. The FCB patron is said to be a fan of a BVB star. Will the record champions strike in the summer?
The name Nico Schlotterbeck is once again causing a stir at Säbener Straße – and for good reason. According to information from BILD soccer boss Christian Falk, the centre-back has been Uli Hoeneß‘ dream player for years. The honorary president values Schlotterbeck’s mentality, his robustness and not least the fact that he is a German international. Even during Schlotterbeck’s time at Freiburg, Hoeneß was convinced that the left-footer would be a perfect fit for FC Bayern.
And indeed, the doors to Munich are also open in Schlotterbeck’s environment. Several family members are said to be avowed Bayern fans and would love to see the 25-year-old in the record champions‘ jersey.
Schlotterbeck was probably already on the verge of a move to the Isar in 2022. As reported by Sport BILD, he even had a personal conversation with Hasan Salihamidzic about a possible transfer – even though he had already given his word to Borussia Dortmund at the time. Schlotterbeck did not want to break his word and opted for BVB despite Munich’s interest, while Bayern subsequently signed Matthijs de Ligt.
Since then, the international has played consistently at a high level and rumors of renewed interest from Bayern have not stopped – especially as his contract talks in Dortmund are currently stagnating.
Upamecano’s decision will determine the future
Nevertheless, the reality for FC Bayern remains unchanged: Schlotterbeck is currently not a priority. The record champions are working flat out to extend Dayot Upamecano, whose contract expires in 2026.

Max Eberl recently made it clear how important this personnel matter is. An agreement with him has top priority. The Frenchman is considered indispensable for Vincent Kompany – and as an internal „king transfer“ if the extension is successful.
This is precisely the crucial point: if Upamecano extends his contract, an expensive transfer like Schlotterbeck is unlikely for financial reasons.
Only if Upamecano were to actually leave FC Bayern would Schlotterbeck become a realistic option.
