With the summer transfer window approaching, FC Bayern Munich are finalising their plans for next season’s squad. While the search for a new head coach dominates the headlines, the sporting management is also focussing on strengthening the squad.
Two positions in particular are in the spotlight in the search for players: the number 6 role and filling the left-back position as a possible replacement for Alphonso Davies, who is being discussed at Real Madrid. According to Sky, these two positions are currently a high priority in the club’s internal planning.
Speculation about potential new arrivals in the number 6 position has already been voiced in the past. Names such as Joao Palhinha, who almost moved to FC Bayern last year, and Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad have been mentioned in this context. While a new transfer move for Palhinha is considered unlikely, there have been repeated rumours about Zubimendi in particular.
Are Bayern also looking for a new right-back?
The right-back position is currently filled by Joshua Kimmich, who accepts this role but is known to have other preferences. However, with players such as Noussiar Mazraoui, Sacha Boey and returnee Josip Stanisic, Munich have a number of alternatives for the coming season. Should Kimmich or one of the other right-backs leave Bayern, Jeremie Frimpong could once again become an issue for the German record champions. The attack-minded Leverkusen player has a prominent advocate in new sporting director Max Eberl.
In the meantime, Aleksandar Pavlovic is developing into a promising option for the defensive midfield at FC Bayern. The 19-year-old, who is establishing himself as a regular, could be an internal solution for the vacant number 6 position. It’s set to be another exciting summer of transfers at FC Bayern.
