Harry Kane will play for the English national team against Mexico early Monday morning (2 a.m.). The Bayern Munich forward is aiming to help the Three Lions advance to the next round. The opposing team’s coach raved about the Bayern star beforehand.
No wonder, since Kane has already scored five goals in this World Cup and is playing at a very high level for England as well.
Here, too, he likes to drop back into midfield, take charge there, and initiate many attacks. Kane has managed to take his game to the next level with the national team as well. There’s no question about that.
Mexico’s coach raves about Kane
Javier Aguirre, coach of co-host Mexico, now faces the task of finding a way to stop Kane with his team in the World Cup round of 16. Neutralizing him will be difficult, but it could be the key to advancing in the end.
“Harry Kane is a global idol. The goals he’s scored for Tottenham, Bayern, or his national team are those of a world-class player. He’s 1.88 meters tall, and despite his height, he has great technique with the ball. He’s strong in the air—he has it all. He’s hardworking, he defends, and he’s the captain. What else can I say about him?” Aguirre said at the Mexican national team’s press conference.

Despite all the talent the Bayern star brings to the table, Aguirre has already devised a plan.
“We’ll try to neutralize him, not just with the center backs, but with the midfield, supported by the fullbacks. We’ll try to make sure he doesn’t feel comfortable when he drops deep into the game to receive the ball, that he always has someone on him so he can’t create opportunities,” said the coach.
However, this can only work if Mexico plays aggressively without going overboard or getting too rough.
